PEAKE
Using the naked body as a natural form of expression, I have explored the relationship between nature and the body. Everything is subjected to change, everything is impermanent. This is the belief of the Japanese movement Wabi-Sabi. In this movement, they find the beauty in the things most often overlooked in everyday life. They embrace imperfections, decay and celebrate them through art. In Japan, people do not have gardens, so they build them out of moss and stepping stones. Moss is everywhere, it appears on overgrown cottages often trampled on by passers-by, on the side of streets and on concrete. But if you look closer you can see the intricacy of patterns and its complexities. This idea of embracing the imperfections lead me to explore this within my own work. Working with a film camera helped to achieve these ideas successfully.
